Palmers Cocoa Butter Shampoo and Conditioner review

It's been a little while since I've found a shampoo and conditioner I can actually say I love! Usually I'll stick to the Aussie ones but since using Palmers Cocoa Butter shampoo and conditioner, I honestly prefer it so much more. My hair is very long and is naturally wavy with slight curls in places, I often blow dry and straighten it like once a week so I need something that is going to help protect it against the heat without it being weighed down.

Palmers have a whole range of hair products in different formulas ie, coconut oil, cocoa butter and manuka honey and more all of which have so many products within each of them. There will be something for everyone whether you looking for a leave in conditioner, edge control, root spray or curl pudding there is something for all.

This particular formula, cocoa butter, boasts of three main ingredients:
Vitamin E - to help the natural repair to damaged hair and strengthen the hair to promote healthy growth.
Peppermint oil - to balance the PH levels and stimulate the scalp.
Cocoa butter - conditions the hair without weighing it down
Also it's Sulphate and Paraben free!

Overnight oats with slim fast and chia seeds

Breakfast is a great way to start the day and can avoid you snacking mid morning, I find if I have a decent breakfast I don't feel peckish till late morning but I try to avoid eating anything as I know I will be having lunch soon. Until recently I had never tried overnight oats, mainly cause we never have oats in our house but I really fancied them and we had these slim fast porridge sachets so I thought I'd try. Using the sachet was an ideal way for me to try as I didn't want to go and buy a whole big bag of oats and if I didn't like it, it wouldn't be a total waste.

I looked a few recipes online to see what sort of things they had in and what I had in my cupboards/fridge and I now have a recipe which I use and is so simply to remember. This recipe serves two.

What you'll need
Bowl/measuring jug
Spoon
Measuring cups/utensils
Mason jar/container minimum of 400ml

Ingredients
2/3 cups of oats (2 sachets slim fast porridge)
1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
2 tsp chia seeds
2 tsp honey
Handful of medium strawberries chopped up (or any other fruit of your choice)
Granola (optional)
This serves two, half the ingredients for one serving

How to make
1. Combine all ingredients apart from the granola in a bowl and transfer to a mason jar/container.
2. Leave to set in the fridge overnight
3. In the morning, take out of the fridge and top with granola (optional) and bon appetite

I did notice a slight difference when I used the slim fast porridge oats, it was sweeter and it was a little thicker, where as the oats there was some of the milk which hadn't fully soaked into the oats but this is minor. It's up to you what consistency you want them so put as little or as much milk and oats as you want.

Have you tried overnight oats? Do you already enjoy this and use other ingredients?

My go to summer nail colours

Summer is fully upon us and it has given me a reason to get the pretty summery colours out and start painting my nails. I tend to change my colours depending what the season is so in autumn/winter I sway more towards deeper and darker shades and mattes, where as in spring/summer I go more towards light and bright colours and glitter!!.

Luckily my nails are in good condition at the moment and are growing nicely and it's nice to see them painted. I'm not one to go to a nail shop and get either gels or acrylics even though I have been tempted on many occasions, I'm just worried the long term damage they will actually do. In an other post I will show what I use on my nails to keep them maintained.

Real Techniques brush cleansing palette review

Making sure my make up brushes are cleaned on a regular basis and free of any bacteria is a big thing for me, the thought of applying my make up with some dirty brush bacteria ridden brush makes me cringe! I'm all for cleaning my brushes every one to two weeks depending how much use they have had. If I'm in between deep cleans I use Primarks brush cleaner, read my review here, it's so handy especially if I'm on the go and don't have the space to take every single brush with me.

To clean my make up brushes I usually use this little brush egg thing, I ordered it up from Ebay a while ago it was something like 99p with free postage. It's a great little starter one but after some time it starts to get a little annoying because it is so small and the bigger brushes get a little difficult to clean properly. When I was browsing in TK Maxx a few weeks ago and came across the Real Techniques brush cleansing palette, I had looked at these before but I think they just seemed a little pricey for what it is but being in TK Maxx I saved a few £.

Empties of 2018 part 3

I think it's time for a little empties post as it's been a few months since my last one. I put all finished products unless they are repeat staple purchases in a bag and it wasn't until I looked the other day and realised it is building up so I picked some at random but I do try to get a mixture of things.

See what my thoughts were on these products
